Good looking I cooed,
Come on don’t be shy,
Come on over get some food,
More sweet-talk, and then to my hand she’d fly,
We became very close, after a year or so,
Then all on her own from far away she’d come,
A hundred feet away and flying low,
Wherever she’d be from,
But now it’s worrisome for me,
Her little foot is badly hurt,
Gingerly she climbs that tree,
My tiny little flirt,
Hesitant, with obvious pain she lands,
It breaks my heart to see her struggle so,
Gingerly and cautious now she sits upon my hands,
Always soothingly, I say, I know, I know,
I thought it strange, how in the end,
Find special treats to be more kind,
A special caring hand I’d lend,
More love my heart would find,
All dressed in black and white,
Impeccably and clean,
She such beauty, such delight,
And constantly she’d preen,
But more sorrowful our meeting,
She suffered more and more,
We knew that time was fleeting,
Soon she’d knock on heavens door,
Winged angels did I pray in heaven
Why not help this precious being,
Alas already this be day eleven,
My little downy I’m not seeing,
I call, I coo, come here my precious friend,
But, still is all, and quiet in the woods,
I’ll take you home, your foot to mend,
Secretly, I doubt I could,
Strange with all the loving creatures,
All my friends they are,
All have different features,
This one a little star,
My Angelface is gone awhile, and now another,
With all this flutter all about me,
Still only look for her I bother,
It’s only her I want to see,
And now this one, and properly another,
My God it never stops to grieve,
Their death my heart does smoother,
This bony man is such a thief,
In shame, I hang my head,
When later then I think,
It’s best I’d be nice to all my friends instead,
Those on my hand that at me blink,
Still I call, and look, for my little downy fair,
I look and call and hope,
One more treat, with her to share,
To see how she would cope,©10/12/2010
