The courage that it takes,
For this turkey wild,
When it an attack it makes,
This certain car it riled,
Not like a hunter with a gun,
Just a beak it has,
It put this big car on the run,
It’s a real gas,
I laughed, and thought oh dear,
Just watching it,
This funny turkey had no fear,
Of being caught or hit,
It was the leader of the flock,
Would it, we had such pluck,
Instead, our fearless leaders run amock,
Most of them, just downright suck,
Those hens nearby them chuckled,
As I did, seeing this,
Not dare this guy unbuckled,
To go there for a piss,©15/11/2012
One time I tried real hard not to hit a flock of hen turkeys while driving in a national forest. After they all flew up and shitted all over my car hood, I regretted not getting a couple of them for Thanksgiving. After reading your poem, maybe it was because I was afraid of the Tom?

How so horridly true. And how fearless animals are when protecting their own, most of the time - from us. And you've reminded me of an old gentleman and his pet turkey that I had the pleasure of meeting some time back. When I got out of my car at the old man's cabin, his valiant 'watchdog' turkey thought I was there to harm his old friend, and he tried to peck me to death!
