Hold Tight

If I could hold her,

I’d never let go,

I would be eternally

grateful for her love

She would be my lady,

Hold tight to my heart

If I could breathe her,

her air so sweet

I’d never exhale,

I would be eternally

healed from my wounds,

grateful for her embrace

The night was quiet,

The only light

was in her eyes

She saw for me

in my blindness

My eyes were full

of tears

The stillness surrounds us,

Our sorrow and pain

It envelopes us

We look to each other

to hold tight

If I could beat her heart

eternally, it’s only forever

I’d be grateful

for her love

We saw our youth,

in all in its fleeting glory

Peace was the dove,

white as the sunlight

and she soared

to protect the young

If I could hold her

I too would soar,

Hold tight
