Valentine’s Day Isn’t Just For Lovers.


Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers.
It is for all the people we love.
Family members and friends
and those that come into our lives and
move on again.
This is for my sister, my friend.
She is always there to help the family
no matter what, no matter when.
She has been the family baby sitter for many years.
We knew we could count on her to wipe our kid’s tears.
Because she loves them so much and they love her
they still laugh about how they used to tease her.
She cooks for us and makes us feel at home,
even now that we are all grown.
When we go to her house, hungry or not,
we are expected to eat,
her good country cooking that can’t be beat.
Helping our family members has been her desire in life.
Her generosity and kindness kept us from strife.
Her love for our family can’t be surpassed,
and our love and gratitude for the person she is
and all she has done will always last.
