I married to have someone to hold
I didn't want to be alone,
At night I wanted my husband home.
I thought I was the missing rib
to my husband's side.
But let the truth be told,
we were unequally yoked.
It didn't matter that my smile was so wide,
My tears I just keep trying to hide.
Why didn't I listen to God?
Why was my head so hard?
I thought that I could work things out on my own,
but now look at the mess I made...
I am still alone.
The marriage has faded
but now I am writing from my heart,
which is what I should have been doing
from the very start.
Serving God is not a mistake!
I'm no longer a wife.
But with each breath that I take
writing and writing is now my life.
