My Southen rearin was not bein brought up, but pulled up by the ears!
I was always the property of Ma and Pa,
I sat mutely, whiled they screamed out the law.
I always had to stay broken, something they could fix,
I was never allowed to use my brain, cause thinkin and mindin don't mix.
Baby Girls must always be virgins, or fall upon their sword,
There was no need to read the Bible, cause Ma and Pa spoke for the LORD.
I was always deemed stupid and dumb as dirt,
I was warned to keep my mouth shut, or I was gonna get hurt.
What goes on in our house, will stay here,
Do as I say, not as I do, YOU HEAR?
We never speak of painful stuff, we make it a joke,
When your heart is breakin, your kin folks will always give it a poke.
Poor muted child from the South,
Keep them eyes lowered and SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

Sad way to grow up.
No confidence building, nor encouragement
instilled in an innocent childs mind from the parents.
Sounds like extremely selfish parents.
Love ya SC....
Hugs and stuff....
When one finds himself between a pissed off Comanche and a Navaho the Cherokee hauls ass back to Oklahoma, forget what Ma and Pa said, what Manitu commands is what counts.
I go and pick more cotton masah.

It is normal for a child to fear. Its not automatic for a child to respect and nor should it be -it is normal for a child to love, listen, and consider - they then decide who, and when respect is due, and true respect for self and others is never born from fear - of verbal, physical, emotional, psychological or sexual violence/abuse - true respect is earned. Telling a child "SHUT YOUR MOUTH" can hit how many of those abuses? I know. Good poem about how not to bring up kids, thanks for the read. Nicky x
Not just in the South, Baby Girl. Back then, in the old days, children were taught to listen, to respect, to fear their parents. Nowadays, the children run amok...have NO respect for authority. Give me the good ole days....well done.
A wicked Cajun Fairy named Robes Pierre entered the impenetrable Magical doll land of Sha Bebe. Queen Faustina, the ruler of the doll land, thought she had destroyed him, but he's back! Will the doll land survive his evil ways?
