I must remain in the darkness of my past, there is no light at the end of the tunnel
I huddle in the darkness, whimpering in the night,
There are no arms to soothe me and comfort my fright.
There is no chest to pillow my head,
No whispered assurance to calm my fears and dread.
I am so lost in an obscure mist,
No one to find me, for I am not missed.
I am too weary to continue the fight,
I am just a wounded creature of the night.
There is no one to ease life's slap,
There is no comforting or secure lap.
I am Life's Orphan, wounded and sore,
I have never been loved, cuddled or adored.
My life and time speeds quickly away,
While I drift, flounder and hopelessly stray.
"...for I am not missed..." how terrible words are those, more devastating that being abandoned or unloved is realizing that nobody knows you aren't there anymore.
