Gluing Back The Leaves

The Doctor said that when the leaves fell her Mama would die, but she had a plan.

Susan was a small, sad, ghostlike, child haunting the small framed house,
Her Mama was very ill and she had to be quiet like a mouse.
The house use to be filled with giggles and laughter,
Stories being read that always ended with Happy Ever After.
When Autumn came her Mama would be dead,
That was what Doctor Jones had said.
Mama was very sick, there was nothing more to be done,
Susan would save Mama, she would be the one.
With tears streaming down her little face,
She made plans to win an important race.
She saved money to buy lots of glue,
When the leaves began to fall she knew what to do.
Autumn finally came with it's orange hue,
As the leaves began to fall she stuck them back on the trees with glue.
Sadly the race was just too big to win,
Though she kept trying again and again.
Autumn won and Mama died,
The exhausted child, fell into a pile of leaves and bitterly cried.

So tragic. Yet, filled with undescribeable hope - I have tried to glue many of those leaves in my life, but to no avail. I weep for the child in all of us.

Blessings,
Kathy

This poem make me remember one of my daughters, she would have come with that kind of plan, sadly she died last january in a freak car accident. But she was like that little girl, sweet, but a practical one when she was little. ( we got in all kind of troubles together)
This one is a keeper, I am clicking Save so I can read again and remember my little pal.
With all my heart, thanks.
Georg
