The coming days bring the unknown
It is upon us to welcome them with joy and restraint

The Fire of Life

Who could understand the flame that invades our hearts
If someone threatens life and happiness, it shoots up like darts

Its language is neither the words nor the ardor
It springs from an invisible source in the depth

Its expression comes through our body and our feeling
To let us understand the pain of the moment

In silence it blows, it burns to the four winds
It does not accept excuses, smiles, or appeasement

Its life is pure and of an entirely other substance
It belongs neither to earth, nor the sky, nor to science

Who could penetrate, even apparently
Its unique life in the heart of infancy

Neither the world's treasures nor the best distraction
Can reach it, or even attract its attention

Of all ages it understands only one language
The one which ties together those conscious and wise

Rich or poor, intelligent or ignorant
It is essential that they become conscious

Of the source of their origin and their descent
Which are neither our ancestors nor animal resemblance

But the one that penetrates us through the power of love
And creates in us happiness and peace forever.

The days that pass never come back
Thank you, thank you, for having lived them

The coming days bring the unknown
It is upon us to welcome them with joy and restraint

Emile - Like the mystery lurking in this poem, life's miracle as in:

Its life is pure and of an entirely other substance
It belongs neither to earth, nor the sky, nor to science

The message in this well executed poem speaks to me of hope, as a flame, ignited eons ago by the Almighty and carried withing the heart and soul of man. As I see it, this flame can never be extinguished. It can only be passed from one to another, sometimes sparingly and sometimes generously, and there in lies our innate and immutable hope. And hope is the close cousin of joy. Blessings and gratitude, J'nia

Reflections of a man in peace, looking around for the days that passed and will never come back again, but holding in his heart that flicker of love for the upcoming future bringing the unknown but with the faith and the thankfulness of have lived those past days...
