To the Victims of Natural Disasters
I feel sorry for all the people who ache
From the tsunami and the earthquake
Remembering what my great-grandfather told,
During an earthquake, when I was nine years old
Life is one percent in our hand
The other ninety-nine percent we don't command.
A glass of cloudy water, one should not drink
As it needs time to clear up, one should think,
Before again transparent it appears -
The same applies to our emotions and fears
We should let our troubled soul anticipate
Perfect clarity - and let fears dissipate.
In these difficult times we pray
For all those near and far away.
Of all those who are affected
We feel their pain, we are connected
May help reach them and save them from harm,
Those who did not make it, may find God's Realm
My favorite stanza is the second one. What a perfect definition of faith. Thank you for that wonderful lesson.

Compassion...yes, where it has gone?

and suffering that natural and human-made disasters cause. Terrible, terrible. Still, as you say, "we are connected." My hope and
prayers is that we will learn to show our appreciation for that
connection more. Join hands around the world!! T h a n k . y o u,
