Translation by the author from his French original below My Town Sweet Ancestral shelter Many a time besieged Your ramparts were ravaged But decimated evil seeds In your greatness Which provokes the universe Your wintery whiteness Enhances your beauty Your vast wheatfields Your carpets of poppies Have repeated in an echo My good luck, on summer eves You guarded the childhood Of my humble spirit And it was to my best That you fulfilled my destiny You are a source of life Without you my heart sinks Into the shadow Of an infinite world You have directed my path And the way to dawn You are still guiding me Towards tomorrow's life You will be forever Alive in my heart Citadel of happiness And valley of love *Ma ville* Doux abri ancestral Maintes fois assiégé Tes remparts ravagés Ont décimé le mal Dans ton immensité Provoquant l'univers Ta blancheur de l'hiver Epanouit ta beauté Tes vastes champs de blé Et tapis de coquelicots Ont répété en écho Mon heur les soirs d'été Tu as veillé l'enfance De mon humble esprit Et ce fut mon profit D'en combler ma chance Tu es source de vie Sans toi mon coeur sombre Dans cette pénombre D'un monde infini Tu as dicté mon chemin Et la voie de l'aurore Tu me guides encore Vers la vie de demain Tu seras pour toujours Vivante dans mon coeur Citadelle de bonheur Et vallée de l'amour Copyright 1976 Emile Tubiana

Such strong love expressed for the ville. It is obviously that you had many rich & happy moments during your childhood there. The expression "carpets of poppies" lends color & wheat fields substance! Keep well.
