Which Way Is Our Country Going?

I wonder, how the United States can survive,
Set a good example and still grow and thrive
As it use to be. Although English is our tongue
We sometimes have a hard time getting along
Does anyone understand his good neighbor,
Be he young, old , intellectual, or a simple labor?
Yes, we speak, we write, without screaming or fight
Can we say we succeeded in alleviating our plight?  
Everyone may praise or criticize each other
But he stays as before, a separated brother
Do we need a war to unite us as brothers again,
With so many losses, destruction and human pain?
Let‘s forget our selfishness, arrogance, indifference,
Having someone to listen to with love and patience
Is the most important part of our mission
Lest we neglect our duty as a great nation
Let’s fill our heart with love and compassion
We’ll discover our inner strength in this fashion.
