Remembering calm and wisdom

In the world in which we live, I believe
It is our duty stability and peace to achieve.
Everyone according to his or her abilities
Has daily obligations towards their families,

Towards society where our livelihood is earned.
Our parents had a lot to give - even less learned
They transmitted their moral values to us,
Which still guide us today, and are a great plus

Our grandparents, parents, and neighbor
Besides fulfilling their daily duty and labor,
Found the time to relate their stories to us,
To the German bombs make us impervious

We all laughed together, so we would not weep
This kept us quiet, so the babies could sleep
I will never forget their calmness and their smile
As if nothing happened, dogs barking for a while

I turn I feel obliged to relate my stories to all,
My thoughts, which I feel, are for big and small
As no one knows what the future has in store
The better prepared, we’ll enjoy it even more
