My memories of my lovely land

America my dear and lovely land
I knew you from beforehand
I knew your soldiers during WWII
Their will, and their kindness too

Their courage and determination
Their love for the human nation
Their noble and charitable heart
Their spontaneous deeds and art

I saw your soldiers in battle and in action
I saw them alive, wounded or in distress
I cried for them as they risked their life
I risked mine too with gratefulness

As a child no one doubted my innocence
We bartered products - that made sense
For my action, you nourished me and mine
With plenty of food, and I gave you wine

The French police came to stop my trade
You saved me from their hands, not afraid
The police strictly followed the law of the time
I followed my instinct - save people without a dime

America, my lovely land, what happened to you
When I see what’s going on, what your media do
Your senators and congressmen blame each other
They forgot all about the fight of our founding father

The head of our president with ideas is rife
But we should not change our way of life
Nor be drowning in rules and regulation
This not the way I found you, my lovely nation

You will fight the new laws, and then
I will fight with my heart and my pen
You are a rich and generous land
There are just too many laws at hand

Based on my rich WWII experience
I know that the people have resilience
They will not let you down, my land
American creativity cannot be planned

I agree 100%. It seems like every time a problem crops up (mostly hyped by the media) everyone want to make a law to directly address it––even put it in the Constitution. I think we could all get along well and a lot better if we let our own moral principles operate and not have so many laws that throw people in prison for harming no one but themselves. The good nature of the people always shines through and having monied interests and splinter politics create a maze of rules and regulations is the wrong way to go.

Omega Factor by John Henning

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.
