Walls of protection, broken hearts, shattered dreams.....
"These Fortress Walls"
by Amber Moonstone 8/28/06
I won't allow myself to feel
The love that you keep
sending to me everyday.
I am closed, shut down,
to protect myself from pain,
hurt, sorrow, disappointment.
I have been down that road
two other times in my life,
I cannot bear to travel there again.
You were not suppose to penetrate
the walls that I put up
but your persistence and love;
Had a way to bore into my resistance.
I am still hovering on the other side
My fortress walls are still standing
As a tribute to my fortitude
and everlasting promise of peace.
that I have vowed to keep forever.
You are an alchemist,
You can conjure up the strength
to turn these walls to gold.
One day you will come to me again,
it will be the right time, this time,
and I will let these fortress walls crumble.
Until that day,
I shall stay content
to live within these walls.
Author's Notes: Yes we all put up walls, for whatever reason, recognizing when you need to let them down, now that takes a lot of courage and healing. I am still, being, very cautious, and careful with my heart.
One day, my walls will be down, for the right person.
Love is a balance of patience with sudden appearance. A mystery that borders on the sublime. Finding true love is a needle in the haystack needing threaded with our soul , like a shadow that touches our spirit.Uplifting it to passions undreamed of. Enjoyed your poem.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
