"The Fringed Jacket, the Car, and the Hippie Girl"

by Amber Moonstone 10/03/06

The air was cold this morning
I put on my brown fringed suede jacket.

Wearing this nostalgic jacket;
made me think of days gone by.

I said to myself, "I don't feel like time has passed"
but reality tells me it certainly has!

In my mind, I am still that hippie 17yr. old
on my way to school in my 65 convertible Chevelle;

Looking all cool and stylin in my leather jacket,
and suede floppy hat to protect my hair from blowing.

The hair was my trademark,
Long, shiny, and straight.

I look in the mirror now,
and I still see that big eyed beauty.

Today, I was a bit sad as I remembered
that moment in time as clearly as if it were yesterday.

I cried out, that I wanted to relive those amazing days
driving in that 65 convertible Chevelle on the way to school!

Author's Notes: Those were the days, the early 70's, listening to Santana, "Black Magic Women" on the radio, driving to high school. Nostalgic day today, I cried happy tears, because I haven't lost that youthful feeling deep inside of my soul. Thank you God/Goddess for keeping my spirit and soul young at heart.

Peace, love and Light,
Amber Moonstone

Oh to stay young, and it's all in the attitude.
Amber, I'd have like to see you in that Fringe.
If I remember I used to be pretty sharp myself lol
You bring it to life and oh Santana, he's still great!

P.s. I still own (wear to festivals) my tan fringe leather, with 2 side wide pockets! :) and I have my floppy tan hat, in the back of our bedroom door. Won't get rid of it!

Ahhh this brings back such bittersweet memories for all of us old ex hippies. I still can feel the fringes of my suede vest and the matching suede fringed boots I wore that went almost up to my knees. The music, the times, the weed the sex...man we sure lived back then didn't we Amber?
Thanks for taking me back..
