Perfection

Whiteness blurs the darkness,
Surrounding my mind with thoughts
of hurried emotions, trembling within
only to feel nothing.
Emptiness surrounds my soul,
hungry to find answers
to make sense of this numbness
that dwells within.
Longing for relief,
daydreaming is the only solace,
wandering past stolen moments,
that once felt comfortable.
A thief has taken my soul,
stolen the best part of me,
I hunger for nourishment,
but cannot feed among the living.
I want to eat, but cannot find the will,
I listen to the voices in my head,
they are destroying my soul,
I cannot bear to open my eyes.
Fear and shame fills me,
I cannot comprehend what I have done,
to my family, my friends, my body.
I struggle to stay alive every moment.
I wanted to be perfect,
I tried to be perfect,
I cannot do it any longer,
I accept that I am not perfect!
It is what is inside us that makes us strive for it, never to achieve that which we seek so vehemently.
But,"cannot feed among the living."
Sounds a bit like a Zombie to me. :-)

The relief of pressure to realize your not perfect
can open the doors for so much more. Wonderful poem Amber!
Lady Mary Ann
that once felt comfortable"
Those lines have such an impact Amber.
Acceptance... perfection, both often times elusive. Accepting our imperfections? A never ending battle. Thanks for channeling that.
That said, I am what practice makes. ;)
I hope she gets help and becomes well...
You have summed this up well with your perceptive words Amber...
Love, Diana....
Always,
