I've had a fear of the ocean crashing on rocks since I was eight, I faced that demon on my 45th birthday this poem is about that. It was a present to myself.
I faced a demon today
from him I'd cower and hide
I looked him in the face, I did not sway
I stayed till I felt calm inside
This demon in me is Fear
My emotions inside he tries to tread
Who always tries to bring a tear
and fill me with such awful dread
I faced him with a determined stance
I battled and fought untill I won
I felt as though I should dance
But I was too sore when the battle was done
I faced the raging demon in me
I was afraid of the crashing sea
