A little more about what is happening in America.

A nation cannot be worthy,
Of protection from God above;
That cares not for its own people,
Has little compassion or love.

If this sounds a bit familiar,
And it does sound that way to me;
Then the truth of the matter is this,
We are really not living free.

Our Constitution clearly demands,
True equality for one and all;
Then tell me, why do we allow,
A fellow American to fall?

We see it every day and night,
Our homeless asleep on the street;
Even our troops returning home,
Can no longer make ends meet.

We’ve sent our industries overseas,
So the rich could make an extra buck;
We’ve sold out our own livelihood,
Now too many are down on their luck.

Will this country ever wake up,
And realize we control our own fate?
We can revive our democracy,
We must do it now before it’s too late.

We can control it with our spending,
And that is the one true reality;
For my friends, what we have become,
Is our very own worst enemy.

I don’t have a Sony PlayStation,
I’ll not buy Toyota or Subaru;
A Kia Sedona mini van?
No, I have too much respect for you.

What the issue is really about,
Is a simple matter of fair trade;
We‘re expected to buy their products,
But it’s a one-way street, a charade.

Go to Japan, try to buy a Chevy,
You will pay an exorbitant toll;
The equation simply won’t balance out,
The cost is high unemployment rolls.

Plus they limit the quantity,
Of what we’re allowed to import;
We don’t have that restriction here,
I guess that makes the US a good sport.

The practice is called “protectionism,”
Sell everything that they can make;
While protecting their own economies,
The Fair Trade Act is a folly, a fake.

As for those that we’ve elected,
They don‘t vote the will of the many;
The lobbyist and the bureaucrats,
They have control of our every penny.

We can only protect ourselves,
The time is now to save our own land;
For the sake of your children and theirs,
Are you willing to take a final stand?

And while I am on the subject,
Let’s talk a bit about our oil;
Gas prices are out of control,
Yet it is here, below our own soil.

But still we import what we use,
And our troops continue to bleed;
Alaska, the Gulf, Georges Banks,
And Colorado could fill our every need.

We have no need for imported crude
If all the facts would ever be told;
Deals have been made and money paid,
Those corporate wizards are very bold.

And I haven’t even begun to mention,
What is happening to our morality;
But that is another touchy subject,
If I’m correct, oops; not politically.

What a terrible state our nation is in,
We are most definitely not worthy;
Of His divine protection from up above,
Friends, our affairs are way too dirty.

This nation needs a leader right now,
From very deep within its core;
A leader that cares for it’s people,
Someone who will give it ‘what for.’

A Washington, a Lincoln, a Jefferson,
Someone who won’t take any bull;
A person for all of the people,
Who won’t buckle under political pull.

I applaud your courage here, but I have a few disagreements. I buy Honda, which also employs Americans right here, because they give us hybrid fuel economy - and that is the way to go, not drilling oil in Alaska or the Colorado. The gas we could save if we all conserved! Many points well taken and very well penned!
