OK, this is getting crazy. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I posted this one the day I finished writing it. Yet it is nowhere to be founbd within my Den. Do any of you remember this one? Tell me I'm not losing my mind. lol Enjoy.

I was thinking back to another time,
Way back to when I was a kid;
To a small cottage on Watuppa Pond,
Surrounded by trees and very well hid.

A place for family and friends to go,
Where we gathered most every weekend;
During the summer for some wholesome fun,
Not a single cent did one need to spend.

We would bring food or drinks if we could,
Whatever Mom had at home on the shelves;
But if nothing was what we could bring,
We knew that we were still welcome ourselves.

Every member of the family was there,
Uncles and cousins, Grandmas and Gramps;
Even our Aunts could be found somewhere,
Preparing the food and lighting bug lamps.

Those days seemed much happier then,
We enjoyed just being together;
Be it playing horseshoes or swimming,
It was good to be with each other.

We didn't have to call it a "party,"
It was just a family gathering;
A time when family as well as friends,
To the table all our love we would bring.

I can see everyone's smiling faces,
I still feel the love deep in their hearts;
How I miss those old time gatherings,
But the memories will never part.

Those really were much simpler days,
To those times I would like to go back;
When family love meant so much more,
Now, true gathering places we lack.

Every age has it's own problems,
But our world, it had fewer back then;
It wasn't about the bragging rights,
It had more to do with being a friend.

I thank God for that cozy, red cottage,
For all the sincere hospitality;
For all of the lessons that were learned,
And I thank God for the fond memories.

If I could only go back in time,
I'd a bought that old cottage from my kin;
For a place like that is a rare find,
Where you can feel the love growing within.

My friends, I pray you have memories,
Of some times like the one I've described;
And a place where you can all share your wealth,
A gathering place where love comes alive.

Yes! Dear Paul.....Yes! Your poem brought back fond memories that my family created with Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents, Fishing and Camping, Picnics and Swimming......Nothing like it, nothing can replace it. Well done, Deborah:)

Wonderful memories of family times and days gone forever. Thankyou for sharing a part of your life with us. You are right.It was a simpler time with moral values ,stronger family ties. A little went a long way. Wish I could go back to those days also.........M

Paul,
I don't remember seeing this poem, but I've been busy dealing with family issues, lately, and haven't spent much time here, these last few weeks. Last fall, I was still busy giving my time to the radio station, so I may have missed it, then.
Regardless, I'm glad you re-posted this. We all need a special place, even if in the past and in our memories. Thinking of happier times, instead of the stress and hassles that life often throws our way, is good for our health!

Thanks for this poem, Paul.
Have a great weekend,
Jill

I guess we all do those fun gatherings when we were young. It was so much fun then. Wonderful write, Paul!!!

Our gathering was ALWAYS on every weekend. Aunt, uncles, grandparents all gathered at the beach in Hong Kong to celebrate the weekend. We brought along our own big tent, my mom could swim best, but for some reasons none of us never learnt to swim very well, even though we were at the beach EVERY weekend.

A wonderful poem that commemorates a family's legacy. It is those kind of warm and friendly gatherings that cement the camaradere of a family and create foundation for children to build on.

Sorry, don't remember this one, either. Agree with Karen Lynn (below) - beautifully penned, well written - you take us there - sigh. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
