To all the Dads in the Author's Den,
I wish you a Happy Father's Day; May your day be happy and bright,
May children moved on visit today.
It's hard when distance separates,
A caring father from their child;
God grant kids love and compassion,
To visit their Dads once in awhile.
Once a year isn't asking too much,
Simply to show a bit of respect;
For me it's just another Sunday,
Another lesson taught; what the heck!
But someday the roles may be reversed,
The shoe may be on the other foot;
I love them and pray this won't happen,
Lord, don't let them know this kind of hurt.
But enough of this self pity,
Happy Father's Day to one and all;
I pray to God that you are so blessed,
That every one of your children call.
Too many children forget how important their Dads are until it is too late and then they spend the rest of their lives regretting their decisions. Thank you for sharing your words Paul.
I have not one regret,, as I loved and was loved by my Dad every day,,,, thank God,, as he died in 1988.... Life is but a breath,, live it to the fullest was his way. :)
Some sons don't even think about how they are hurting their father's by not visiting. I guess they are too involved in their lives. It is too bad it is this way, but many do this too.

Paul, this is a heartfelt write with a sad plea attached. I learned a long time ago to make my peace by the minute--as needed--with my parents, and thank God I did. When one's parents are gone, we look back and wish we had another chance to make things right. But its too late then. Peace and goodwill are time-sensitive. Happy Father's Day to you.
And a HIP, HIP HOORAY to all the daddies here, also granddaddies, uncles, etc.! LOL
But not always a good day: some don't have their daddies in their lives--like Karla or me; just lost ours not even three weeks ago; how we miss him!! Pray we get through today....
