When we are least expecting them,
God sends lessons to think about;
Lessons in life he sends to me,
Purposely, of this I've no doubt.

Dead man walking, brought back to life, (2001)
Called back to serve at fifty one; (2003, Army)
Lessons in life are amazing,
Some even turn out to be fun.

My life trapped by a fear of heights,
Came the Trade Center tragedy;
Felt the need to once again serve,
A firefighter came to be. (2002)

Woke up feeling ill one morning,
Figured I'd go and get checked out;
Had I not gone, I would have died,
The doctor said there was no doubt. (2004)

When something was missing from life,
Felt the world was falling apart;
God sent an angel from heaven, (2006) 
That filled a hole within a heart.

And even when one house was lost,
God soon replaced it with a "home;" (2008)
He is ever present in life,
Ask and you'll never walk alone.

Look forward to God's next lesson,
Think about its meaning in life;
And soon you'll find hidden blessings,
Better this, than worry and strife.
