Sitting on the shore of the lake,
Looking at the views all around;
A half moon shining so brightly,
The wonders of God do astound.
Mountains rise high in the distance,
White, puffy clouds floating on by;
The sweet sounds of loon as they call,
I am so blessed, but know not why.
With my son right there beside me,
Roasting marshmallows in the fire;
Our dogs looking on as we eat,
It's times like this that do inspire.
A doe walks out from the treeline,
A tiny fawn right by her side;
Jon and I stop and stare in awe,
Even the dogs don't seem to mind.
As they curiously look at us,
The doe does an amazing thing;
She turns and walks over to us,
And fearlessly her fawn she brings.
They walk to where we are sitting,
And I can't help but wonder why;
Not a hint of fear is present,
As moonlight reflects from her eyes.
They stop within four feet of us,
Then turn their heads from side to side;
As if to ask why we are there,
And why we are playing with fire.
Then a look of understanding,
Shows across the face of the deer;
God works in mysterious ways,
And He sure has proven it here.
How something like this could happen,
There are no words that can explain;
God gives miracles everyday,
Like the times when He makes it rain.
Life is so full of wondrous things,
It's not for us to question why;
This is what life is all about,
Blessings from God that make us sigh.
Still, I look up for an answer,
Then just as quickly I look down;
As a soft voice speaks to my soul,
"Look, the answers are all around.
"From the boy sitting at your side,
To your dogs who are loyal friends;
And the deer who walked up to you,
Do I need to tell you again?"
Stars in the heavens placed by God,
Bright lights that spark imagination;
Sending one's thoughts places afar,
Bringing to me this inspiration.
