Our lives could be filled with blessings,
If we’d open our eyes and see;
All the beauty that surrounds us,
Simple things to make us happy.

We travel our trails much too fast,
Hoping that we will make a mark;
Missing the good things that are free,
Like a simple walk in the park.

Family and friends are the best,
But a house is never a home;
If it’s not filled with God given love,
If ego sits high on the throne.

If money and titles are our goals,
Yes, my friends we are missing out;
Of what God intended love to be,
And what our lives should be all about.

I was "well to do" at one time,
I thought that was the way it should be;
Over time I learned that I was wrong,
Turns out I was only fooling me.

So I threw my foolish greed aside,
Then I surrounded myself with love;
Love that came from those around me,
The love Jesus brought from above.

Now I’m no longer “well to do,”
I’ve become rich beyond belief;
Richer than all society,
For I have found God’s Sweet Relief !

If only we would open our hearts,
And forget about ego and greed;
Maybe the world would fall in love;
If only God’s message we’d heed.

Love is the recipe for peace,
The one that we’d best listen to;
Without God’s love there is no hope;
It was designed for me and you.
