I put this under "CRIME" for a reason; it's a crime what our government has allowed to happen to our once proud country. Maybe I should have placed it in "COMEDY" for the JOKE is on us; the people. I've been told that I get myself in trouble because I care too much. Well, if caring about my country, its children and its future generations brings me trouble, then so be it. Bring it on with a capital T. If I don't stand for something then I stand for nothing. And I truly believe this is a war that we MUST win. The bottom line is this; REAL AMERICANS, BUY AMERICAN. Period, no excuses.
Toyota, Nissan and Kia,
Mitsubishi and Hyundai too;
American jobs down the drain,
And what does our government do?
NOTHING! Now, Chrysler is cutting more brands,
And Fiat's coming on over;
More American jobs are gone,
Politicians rolling in clover.
A sneak attack, this invasion,
Destroying our very way of life;
Obama does nothing at all,
Except create more worry and strife.
Listen up people, we're at war,
And we're losing the battle quick;
Surgery is needed right now!
The wound is much too big to lick.
It's time to replace our Congress,
With caring folk whose hearts can feel;
We must protect America,
My friends, this invasion is real.
We need 'protectionism' NOW,
Or we'll meet a terrible fate;
No one else will stand up for us,
Demand it now before it's too late.
For those of you who do not care,
Hop in your import and take a ride;
For you are part of the problem,
YOU have no AmericanPride.
WAKE UP, my fellow citizens,
We need to stand up, shout out loud;
"WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE ANYMORE, WE'REAMERICANS,WE STAND PROUD"
This happened not due to some strange, or mysterious govt. plot, Paul, but because Americans since the early 60s (including me) began buying foreign cars. I presume you never bought a foreign car. I owned 4 VWs over the years and loved them. Also, we simply priced ourselves out of business and labor unions helped, although I always agreed with them because they helped to bring about our highly improved standard of living (in America). This is not to mention that "Detroit" made some ugly vehicles over the years that nobody wanted and gas guzzlers in spite of witnessing at the moment the non-gas guzzlers coming over from Asia. I just think your anger is misdirected. More research?

Yes, of course I agree! Both of my cars are American. But I wonder, how many parts are foreign? Toyota is built in America and that is suppose to help employ workers here in the US. The Dell computer Company is suppose to be American but it's products are all made in China. I pick up the phone when my Dell does not work and I talk to a guy from India. This is a world economy and if we get back to the way it was 50 years ago all things will be so expensive none of us would want buy them unless the goverment taxed foreign products out of the market. England did that for a while and I wonder...are we trying to be like England? Where are we going? Who is driving this ship? Are we so far off course that all we can hope for is to hit an iceburg? Will that wake our leaders up? I miss Ronald Regan! Amen
In theory this makes some sense but in reality as a Canadian I have to wonder just how far this could go in creating a bigger problem than already exists. I mean if we shut off our borders to you and yours to us and then both our borders to other countries will we be able to sustain a population such as we have by just our own markets? I do believe there should be controls but total protectionism...not sure if that would work my friend.

After giving it more thought, I decided to remove the copyright from this economic/political piece. I have sent it to every one of the US Congressmen in my state and I am asking all of you to PLEASE do the same. We must take action immediately or things will only get worse. There is nothing wrong with your thinking. We are American. I just find American products unaffordable. We are endangering ourselves, "white collar greed".
Paul, I admire your patriotism, which is something that has become complacent among our countrymen over the last several years. We've cast our vote and sat back thinking government would take care of things, but we've had nothing but a bunch of idiots and corrupt moneygrubbers and power seekers in office and our country is going to hell because of them.
