Another year has now ended,
A brand new one is now at hand;
Will it bring us peace and goodwill,
Or will we still hate our fellow man?

My wish for a Happy New Year,
Is hard to do while we are at war;
I think of our troops still overseas,
My Lord, what's all this fighting for?

I know it's all about freedom,
Yet, the price is so very high;
We need to find a better way,
There's no need for any to die.

Lord, I ask that You hear my prayer,
Help us find peace in this brand new year;
Do I ask too much of You, Lord,
That no child should ever face fear?

It's said, "History repeats itself,"
I find this saying is all too true ;
War after war, for hundreds of years,
We've forgotten the teachings from You.

If people can't learn to get along,
Protect the children from up above;
Place Your arms around them, Dear Lord,
And teach us all Your lessons of love.
