THIS NEW DAY

I woke up early this morning,
Just felt like I needed to pray;
Looked out into the star filled sky,
I thanked the Lord for this new day.

Needed to feel closer to Him,
Wanted to have a good, long talk;
Wrapped my robe tightly around me,
In the back yard, I took a walk.

The air was so cold, crisp and clean,
Yet, I felt the warmth of His touch;
As starlight reflected off the snow,
I thanked Him for loving us so much.

I thought I had much more to say,
But He knew what was in my heart;
He simply said, “Good morning my child,
Use this new day for a brand new start.”

A perfect start to the morning,
What more could we ever ask for?
Than to start off each bright new day,
Feeling God’s love throughout our core.
