Only Through Death

Why not today Dear Lord? Why not today?

Dead in your hearts, dead in your souls,
Nothing left to touch or to hold;
Memories take me back through time,
You were part of this life of mine.

More than simply children to love,
God's two greatest gifts from above;
Things have happened and changed it all,
Not a thought nor even a call.

Yet, I still let it bother me,
And pray the time will come one day;
When you may need me once again,
No! I'd never turn you away.

You were more than my flesh and blood,
You were my whole life for so long;
Torn from my heart by pure evil,
The tactics she used were all wrong.

Yet, why should I only blame her?
All she does is throw out the bait;
Then the sharks feed on it blindly,
Why do you let her control your fate?

Sometimes a wound cannot be healed,
And only through death will it mend;
Then let me be dead in your hearts,
In death you can't hurt me again.

I thank God for the memories,
Guess there are no more to be made;
Left a life that was killing me,
But God, what a price to have paid.

A LOT OF EMOTIONAL TURMOIL AND PAIN IN THIS WORK THAT SPEAKS OF THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST...AND THE PRESENT. WE CAN'T CLEAN SPILT MILK AND MAKE IT DRAINKABLE, PAUL...THE BEST WE CAN DO IS ACKNOWLEDGE THE LOSS (FOR WHATEVER REASON IT WAS(, MOVE ON AND HEAL. GOOD WORK, THANKS FOR SHARING AND MUCH LOVE WITH THE BLESSINGS OF HEALING...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Much pain is felt in this write. One can't change what has happened in the past , but if they can let the hurt go and move toward to the future, there is hope for new tomorrows....M

Sadly, it is the way it is sometimes as fate can deal a cruel hand....

This was a heartbreaker, Paul. As always it was extremely well crafted.
