I thought I'd take a break today,
While traveling this trail through life;
Needed some peace and solitude,
A short break from worry and strife.

Sat by a pond in the forest,
Peaceful as any place could be;
Thought about the wonders of life,
The blessings God's given to me.

I sat and counted those blessings,
One by one they came rushing back;
Blessings He gave me all my life,
Undeserved, I know for a fact.

I sat a bit more and thought of,
How undeserving I could be;
Said, "God, thank You with all my heart,
I don't deserve blessings from Thee.

"I've sinned, I'm not a very good man,
I don't deserve more blessings today;
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to Thee,
I just have trouble finding my way."

A voice from somewhere deep in my soul,
Seem to squelch my most foolish worry;
'The love of the Father's unending,
Tell the whole world about His story.'

I must admit, it makes sense to me,
A father myself, I know it's true ;
No matter what wrong a child may do,
Fathers always have blessings for you.

I left the forest feeling whole,
My soul had been restored again;
By the good grace of God above,
Some day I will reach my Trail's End.
