A serpent lived in the Garden,
Among all the beasts of God's brood;
One day he asked of the woman,
"Why don't you eat of that tree's food?"

The woman said to the serpent,
"We have our choice of all the fruit;
But not the one's from that one tree,
In the midst of the Garden's root.

"God said we should not eat of it,
Though it is pleasing to the eye;
And we are never to touch it,
If we do, we shall surely die."

The serpent said to the woman,
"Foolish woman, you shall not die;
For God knows if you eat that fruit,
Then you will know that He did lie.

"Eat it; your eyes shall be opened,
You shall know all and live as gods;
Knowing what's good and what's evil,
Eat it now and even the odds."

Then the woman saw that the tree,
Was more than pleasant to her eyes;
She saw the tree had the best food,
And that its fruit would make them wise.

She took of the fruit and ate it,
And then she gave it to Adam;
He also bit into the fruit,
That's when they broke God's one command.

Their eyes were suddenly opened,
They now saw that they were naked;
So they sewed fig leaves together,
Clothing of shame they created.

Then they soon heard the voice of their Lord,
While walking in the Garden that day;
Adam and Eve hid of themselves,
Hoping that God would go away.

But the Lord called out to Adam,
He said unto him, "Where are you?"
Adam answered, I heard You, Lord,
Naked, I hid myself from You."

God said, "Who told you you're naked,
Have you eaten from mine one tree?
The one that I had commanded,
Never of its fruit shall you eat!"

Adam said in a frightened voice,
"The woman You made from my side;
Gave to me the fruit of the tree,
Told me we would live a god's life."

The Lord God said to the woman,
"What hated evil did you do?"
The woman also frightened said,
"The serpent claimed we'd be kust like You."

The Lord then called to the serpent,
"Because you have done this evil;
Upon your belly you shall crawl,
Cursed by all those who walk the field.

"In the dust you shall ever slither,
All the days of your miserable life;
Stepped upon by creatures that walk,
Your life filled with terrible strife.

"I shall instill hatred within,
The woman, her seed and his seed;
She will attempt to crush your head,
For you, they'll never have a need."

To the woman the Lord God said,
"Conception shall now cause you pain,
In anguish you'll now bring forth children,
Desire shall be your husbands gain.

"And he shall have rule over you,
Because he also did what you sowed;
Cursed be it the ground for your sake,
He will sorrow in all that he grows.

"For every day of your life,
You'll sweat until the day you're dead;
Until you return to the ground,
A place that you shall surely dread.

"For out of it you were taken,
Dust you are, to dust you shall go;
This is the word of your Lord God,
I'm the only God you need know."

So Adam called his wife's name Eve,
The mother of all that would be;
Then the Lord made coats out of skins,
So their nakedness they'd not see.

And then the Lord God said, "Behold,
The man now knows good and evil;
And now, lest he offers his hand,
He'll curse the land where he will dwell."

Then the Lord God cast them both out,
Out of the garden of Eden;
Cast forever from paradise,
Like dirt from which they were taken.

So Adam and Eve God drove out,
Due to the sin of man and wife;
Placed a flaming sword at the gate,
So to protect the Tree of Life.
