My 11 year old son, Jon, had a school homework assignment tonight to write a poem. Looks like he's going to take over for his old Dad someday. I'm proud of the little guy. What do you think?
THE OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN
While he was looking down on us,
He felt his home begin to shake;
A terrible thought crossed his mind,
Could this possibly be a quake?
The Old Man could not hold on,
He fell to the ground stone by stone;
But we’ll always remember him,
When we take a ride by his home.
He’s gone but he’s not forgotten,
He filled our lives with so much love;
There’s a special place in our hearts,
For that Old Man sent from above.

Jonathan has your poetic talents! Good on him! And good on you for sharing this budding young poet's words! Well done, Jonathan, and thank you, Paul, for sharing! Well done, both of you; bravo! Bravo!!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :D
I love the way Jonathan personalizes the old man. It's a beautiful, sentimental poem.
Jonathan, it's obvious you put a lot of thought and work into this poem. Very well done!

Awesome writing..you taught him well sweet man..well done indeed...Hugss to both of you
Oh awesome!
That's how it starts.
Even with your introduction I just found myself missing the old man.
I can't believe for all the times I've been through New Hampshire I just never got there. You always think there will be time...maybe next year.
But honestly- there was no distraction of a child's effort, this was just poetry.
Hope we see more.
Note: Since my husband's cancer surgery 4/25/05, this book content has been integrated into the public speaking content for audiences interested in a sassy approach to personal and/or community awareness events. Another chapbook on intimate love poet
