My Morning Star

I woke up well before sunrise
Feeling like I had much to do
Knowing not a thing could get done
Until I gave my thanks to You

The morning air was crisp and clean
Birds gliding up high most carefree
The quiet almost deafening
The lake was as smooth as could be

I gazed up at the morning star
Thinking its meaning was quite clear
I felt my worries slip away
With Your love I’ve nothing to fear

And now as I watch the sunrise
The darkness slowly creeps away
Colors bring the world back to life
Thank You my Lord for this new day

I’m ready now to get started
With hope and faith from up above
And thankful that I’ve been given
One more day to express my love
