Somewhere along our trails through life
We should look for a simple place
A setting to restore our souls
So we can walk a slower pace

Life is much too competitive
Must we always be number one?
Let's just relax along our trails
We'll find that life is much more fun

I'm sure that we've all had the urge
To be better than the next guy
But simply speaking for myself
Living that way I lived a lie

I neglected important things
I hurt the ones closest to me
I pushed aside faith, hope and love
Selfishly hurt my family

All of that hurt was for nothing
As nothing is accomplished through
Foolishness in being the best
There's always one better than you

The fact is that we're all equal
And that's no reason to feel down
Let's be happy with who we are
We're # 1 with friends around

Let's all work together through life
We'll make this world a better place
Helping each other we will find
We don't need to win a 'RAT RACE'
