A variation of the original that I wrote on December 28, 2006, from my very first book, TRAIL'S END POETRY, Lessons in Life - Book 1. Dedicated to my daughter, Susan. Time went by much too quickly, Sweetheart.
My little girl has grown so fast
Out in the world all on her own
Please tell me where all the time went
Since the day that her seed was sown
What's happened to that little girl
I held so proudly on my knee
She has grown up much too quickly
Forever "Daddy's Girl" to me
From a baby to a toddler
Then riding solo on her trike
Before I even realized
She was riding a two wheeled bike
Then from pre-school on to high school
All of those years went flying past
From birthday parties to Disney
I thought those days would always last
From bobby socks to panty hose
Then off to college far away
Her graduation came so quick
Now she's facing a brand new day
The time just seemed to slip away
A beautiful woman she is now
My God, how the years flew on by
Still, I don't understand just how
My little girl, I love you so
And though we're many miles apart
Please know I'm always here for you
Holding you tightly within my heart
