They came to a fork in the trail
Unexpected to say the least
Almost at the end of their trails
Never expected to meet the beast

Greed was branded upon its head
It showed no compassion at all
Its eyes burned with a lusting fire
Anxiously, it awaited their fall

Friends, they never saw the trap
As it was thrown across the trail
They were simply looking ahead
Nor aware of the demon's tail

But then it lunged out & hit them
All at once they had been struck
But they knew of an antidote
It had nothing to do with luck

They turned it all over to God
Knowing He'd not let them down
Though they were in rough waters
Our Lord wouldn't let them drown

But now they're just a statistic
Just another victim of greed
Yet strong in their faith in God
He'd provide all that they'd need

It was simply a place to live
Only made out of wood and stone
God's love would provide another
A place they could humbly call home

But still they'll always remember
All the love, blood, sweat & tears
All that they put into that house
Memories made over the years

How did the beast simply take it?
No one offered a helping hand
For the family that lived there
A child, a woman and a man!
