The essence of a family
Should trancend what is right from wrong
The love that is within one's heart
Should keep the relationship strong

Though disagreements may take place
And things may not always seem right
The rule of thumb to remember
Don't go to bed angry at night

Sit down and discuss the problem
With the ones that you hold so dear
Solve them before the new morning
That way you'll never sleep in fear

Of just what the next day may bring
Each sunrise should be a fresh start
A bright day to look forward to
Filled with ways to open your heart

To kindness and understanding
Forgetting about yesterday
What's in the past is now long gone
Together find a better way

To understand each other's needs
Though we may not always agree
All of us have unique desires
Each of us has a right to live free
