My youngest and I were talking About the true meaning of love And just what a great gift it is Granted us by our Lord above True love is about sacrifice And simply showing that you care Material things mean nothing If true love's not already there Just caring and understanding Doing something because you can A simple call to keep in touch Or gently holding someone's hand Some people try to buy true love A concept that some do accept What happens when the money's gone Then one really has nothing left Yes, I'll take love over money Love's better than silver or gold Money can't keep you company Can't give a warm hug when you're cold I've seen money do awful things Like tearing apart a family The love of money can corrupt I know, for it happened to me No, money cannot buy true love God given love cannot be bought Tho it may gain you attention It's not the real comfort you've sought I'd like my Grand-kids to love me Not because I can buy them things I pray that they love me for me For contentment that true love brings Thank You, Lord for showing us how How to express Heaven sent love For that's what love is all about God's greatest gift sent from above Copyright - September 14, 2008

What an excellent poem expressing the value of real love over material things...it is something I am teaching my young son early the value of.
