Like many departed treasures, the Old Man is a loss to be mourned, for I feel he represents the loss of faith in God. Faith in God sustained our ancestors and built our nation, but is now crumbling. Will it be rebuilt? By the grace of God and the prayers of His people, it could happen.
Like the spot where the Old Man once was visible, our God is visible all around us, no matter if no one else "sees" Him. As you remember the Old Man of the Mountain, let us remember our Father God and make Him our focus for now and always. God save America!
Nice writing once again, Paul!
I know how it feels as we in Newfoundland have the face in the mountain. Great write Paul as usual.

This poem kept my attention right to the end. It seems like this old man was much more than a friend. The tale of the old man is a mystery to me. What happened to him still remains to be seen.
I was talking to a young marathon runner who came down to NJ to run a few weeks ago & he was from NH & said "they" were thinking of rebuilding the old mans face on the mountain...I kinda feel if Nature & God wanted him there, he would not have fallen down in the first place...e

I am not from NH but am happy for the 5 years I lived in mA and was able to see the Old Man before he fell.
