His spirit has been missing for days
The special one that was Heaven sent
It isn't like it to wander off
Anyone know where his spirit went?

It has been with him for so long
Most of his life or so it seemed
Why would it simply go away?
And he wonders what it could mean

Lord, did You take his spirit home?
No, You wouldn't ever do that
It slipped away all by itself
God, would You send his spirit back?

My friends, if you see his spirit
Tell it he's looking high and low
Without it his trails could get rough
He may not know which way to go

Spirits are a sensitive thing
When living in one's heart and soul
But when they're suddenly ripped away
The days are dark and the nights so cold

Without one's spirit all is lost
The future as dark as the night
Lord, give his spirit back to him
Let him know life will be alright
