I'M JUST THINKING BACK FOUR YEARS ABOUT PROMISES THAT WERE MADE AND HAVE BEEN FULFILLED, SUCH AS; THE WAR IS OVER OUR HEROES ARE COMING HOME, 9/11-SATISFIED, HEALTH CARE PACKAGE-A LAW AND OUR VETERANS ARE BEING TAKEN CARE OF MUCH BETTER THAN THEY WERE. I AM ALSO REMEMBERING THE DEVASTATING FINANCIAL CONDITION THE OLD ADMINISTRATION LEFT THIS COUNTRY IN. I THINK WE FORGET A LOT AND WE TEND TO OVERLOOK A LOT OF GOOD THAT HAS BEEN DONE, BUT, IN ANY CASE...ISN'T IT GREAT TO BE ABLE TO DO SO WITHOUT HAVING ANY FEAR REPERCUSSIONS? I LOVE IT!!! Paul, I think you are very brave, as are the other writers on here who put out their political viewpoints. I must say that I share your disappointment in our present administration and a fear of what four more years of ineptitude and possible dishonesty (likely dishonesty), law breaking and unconstitutional actions will do to this country that I love so well. I was very proud when we voted a black man into the highest office in the land, for it showed that we had grown so much as a country, but I was scared then about his ideas and policies, and my fear has grown since I have witnessed his time in office. I also am not thrilled with the choices, but I know who I won't be voting for...no hate, no hostility. I just disagree with him. Anyone has to be better, or I hope so. Mostly I pray, but I will vote also. Thanks for this poem. God bless the USA! Be well, Kathy
It took about fifteen years to recover from the Great Depression at great cost to our resources and federal budgets. During the war everything was rationed for the troops. A lot has been accomplished and the economy is slowly turning around. Anyone in the stock market has seen their assets come back. I do agree we should be harsher on the greedy idiots, but I don't see high paying middle income jobs with union negotiated artificially high pay and benefits coming back because they have been replaced by either computer technology or sent overseas where the work is done better at lower cost.
Changing leaders is like looking in the drawer for clean underwear when you haven't washed clothes for months. I don't believe changing leadership will change the course of the economy one iota. We will, however, be forced to stomach some draconian ideologies leading us down the path of our own demise.
