I believe I've done all I can do to keep my family safe from the storm. Now I must leave it in God's capable hands. We'll be praying that everyone along the East Coast comes through this storm safe and sound. Buildings, bridges and roads can be replaced, lives cannot. Stay safe and may God bless and protect you all.

Having faced the several hurricanes and tropical storms that came through here, I agree with everything Jerry wrote. Generally, forecasters and new media will paint a more dire picture than actually happens. However, it is good to heed the warnings and not rely on what happened with Irene last year as an indicator of what Sandy will do.
Prayers may have a psychological effect on you and all the believers, but it won't affect the storm and its consequences one iota.

I've ridden out many of these things, and it sounds like you have done all you can do to make your family as safe as possible without leaving and getting completely away from it. As I said, I have ridden out many hurricanes, but nothing quite like what this is shaping up to be. A hurricane, a cold front, a full moon and a high tide. Four unbelievable weather-related situation could make this one quite literally live up the the Frankenstorm name. I sincerely hope not. Good luck to you and your family.
