Last night, Thursday, November 1, we were forced to put down our 10 year old miniature Dachsund, MYSTERY ROSE. I wrote the following in memory of this little dog that was greater than life to us.
Mystery left our home last night
She's gone to a much better place
Where there's no pain or misery
Girl, we're gonna miss your sweet face
I'm so sorry for what I did
But girl, there was no other way
Thought I was doing the right thing
For God's forgiveness is what I pray
Mystery, you know that we loved you
We wanted to keep you around
But your illness was too severe
Now you're body's beneath the ground
But your true essence is elsewhere
And that's where we'll all meet again
I pray that you're at Rainbow Bridge
Playing with more of man's best friends
Sorrowful, yet realizing of the wonderful companionship you shared with an animal's soul, Paul. It is the hardest part of sharing life, attending death's releasing breath.

There is no forgiveness needed when you did what had to be done. God certainly understands, and He also understands your grieving.
He's the One who gave us pets for our pleasure and companionship.
It is so sad to lose a pet. I've had that feeling too. Doubly sad because so many pets seem to be getting cancer. I hope it's not because of the food we feed them.
I have been where you were last Thursday quite a few times. The last one was the hardest because the vet screwed it up and my wonderful dog Nipper left this world in much greater pain that was needed. It was all I could do was to clench my fists, but not use them. I was vocal, however.
It's what we do when they cannot help themselves, we are granted dominion over them to act responsibily and humanely.
I echo your thoughts as last year had to put to sleep a 5 month old Rotty pup with OCD, it broke my heart, as he was so devoted to me, but in such pain, and just last week, our lovely Siamese two year old went on one of his early morning walks, up the hill of the paddock, and met his end on the road by someone thoughtlessly speeding at that time of the morning on a country windy road, so yes, I am right with you on this Paul.
