Give him a warm and loving heart
And a most understanding mind
Throw in a bit of humor too
Add all the patience You can find

He's going to be a father
This will be his very first child
Looking at others he has seen
It could get crazy for awhile

He doesn't care what it will be
Whether it's a boy or a girl
He'll do what he must to make it
The happiest child in the world

He knows it's not an easy job
But he believes he can do it
To raise the child with hope and love
He's anxious to get down to it

He promises to give his time
To show it the stars up above
Teach all the lessons that he can
To fill up its life with God's love

Any man can be a father
Matters not if they're good or bad
But it takes a special one
To become a really great Dad

He wants our help while he's learning
To help him become all he can be

Lord, I ask You for this favor
Guide him as he works at this task
Correct him should he lose patience
Right now that's all I need to ask

We know as the child grows older
