This is a complete revision of ALONG THE TRAIL; one of the very first poems I had ever written for my first book, TRAIL'S END POETRY. I originally composed it on January 7, 2007. It's amazing what a difference six plus years of experience makes. ALONG THE TRAIL from 2007 was written by the rank amateur that I was back then. Have a great day, enjoy and may God bless.
For far too many of my years I felt confused and at a loss I thought life was too demanding Living had much too high a cost Then one day I met a wise man Who told the story of his tribe Felt so good to listen to him Of his lessons I now abide He said that life was quite simple If we practiced God's gift of love If we listened to The Spirit Who was sent to us from above "If your days seem too difficult As you travel along your trail Slow down and take a bit more time Going too fast you're bound to fail "Take time to look all around you There is so much for you to see God's miracles will astound you And He's offered them all for free "Your trails are easy to travel There are stops all along your way Placed there for you to rest a spell 'Fore you travel another day "Your days of toil are all numbered And He will let you know just when You will be completely at peace Before you reach your trail's end "You will have time to sit and rest At a place to restore your soul To bring back happy memories You made as you were growing old "Just let your spirit be at peace For your time is not yet to be And if you should have more questions Simply bring them all here to me" I took all that he had taught me On my trails I walked on again Yet I know we'll meet one more time Before I reach my last trail's end

Wise words indeed! Trail sometimes feels impossibly long and confusing, and there are an awful lot of detours. Have to slog through mud and worse.
