Found this with some of my original writings I did while stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma with A Battery 1/30 Field Artillery Regiment in 2003. This was shortly after the tragedy of 9/11 and during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Unfortunately it still applies today.
Some people just don't understand
That we're doing what we must do
We just couldn't live with ourselves
If we let terror get to you
Our world is surely at its worst
Hate filled people are all around
Our hearts are filled with love for you
Love's a weapon that will astound
Those who are trying to cheat us
Of freedom granted from above
In the end they'll learn what it means
That wars are won because of love
Evil will never take over
So long as we're able to breathe
We are warriors of the Cross
Triumphantly it's God that leads
We'll battle for freedom at home
For freedom throughout every land
Terrorists had better beware
Soon they'll feel the wrath of God's hand
For liberty we swore an oath
For justice our lives we may give
We do this not just for country
We fight so that freedom will live
So, one more time we say to you
This war on terror must be fought
"But why must we fight?" you still ask
Because to our shores this war was brought
It is time we fight terrorists and stop trying to bring American religious values to people who don't need our morality in their lives. Too many have died needlessly for causes that were needless to start with, regardless of how we rationalize why we did it in the first place.
