thoughts on the last few days

The tumor is on your spine; unoperable
How long until you are paralyzed?
How long until you gaze upon that final sun?
Monday they gave you methadone for the pain
Left you in a coma
Pepper read you our poems
Stayed by your side for two days
You were the second woman who asked me to promise;
Forever

Forever's a lie
Maybe it always was
Maybe all we ever have are the few moments that make up
Now

So many empty beaches in my life
So many endings without any time for farewells
You asked me once for forever and a kiss
Both proved fleeting
I left a pink rose on your grave
It was all I had left to give

You portray loss with such touching beauty. And it was HER forever.

Physical forever is a lie . . . I agree!
Spiritual forever is coming!

"So many empty beaches in my life"

So true for all of us!
I am sorry for your loss.
Your poem was filled with the melancholy that has, and will, affect the human condition until He that defeated death in power and majesty returns.

Death makes us realize that we only have now, but the love is forever in our hearts.

Even with the best of new life before me, divorce haunts me.
I meant forever, it just seemed life did not let that be.
I wish I wouldn't wonder why, but that is life...wondering why.
How good can the journey be when it is costing so much?
Thank God for what good there has been.
I just often wish one of us had died, instead of the love.
Then I would be in your shoes. (Or dead.)
I hope forever finds us.
John

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
