The day long gone now where once there was remembrance
of time on a clock face with a slow tick from wanting you
things grew then on stems too short for blooms to dance
lions sighed with whispered voices and yet magpies flew
Ruffled red bedcovers cling to a silence that we’ve broken
there’s a song of you alive on the dust bunnies and socks
you’ve nestled there between the matches and bus tokens
and you lounge with aplomb by the earrings and the clock
etched there on the windowsills in thin lines of brown mold
our words of strange tumblings through the lining of dreams
though one heart box is silver and the other a fading gold
the change will explode us till we burst at the seams
you’ve come in on the leaves in the cracks of my shoes
nothing again will carry sameness with these colors of you
are there tracks from this place where my heart’s come unloose?
For I have grown so within you when autumn winds blew
Every word has such depth and color, that I try for and fail to capture, but you have mastered this art!
there’s a song of you alive on the dust bunnies and socks
Oddly. I have written a poem about "Dust Bunnies." You may have read it. It's posted here.
Your verses always make me wonder about whom you write. Who is this person who clearly has got your attention?
Well. I'm gonna get on the bike. I will be thinking of you and wishing you love and best wishes,
Regis

This is right up there with the very best, the presence an absence and yet what remains, a lover and a season intertwined. This is beautiful and very moving.
