Come On... Let's Ride

Let's go to town
we'll ride on a moose
and if he goes too slow
we'll hop on a goose

If he's too fat to fly
we'll cook him for dinner
gander around for another
perhaps one much thinner

Or we might ask a tortoise
to waddle us there
i've heard they're much quicker
than a grass-hopping hare

Why are we going?
no reason at all
it's the joy of the ride
one day we'll recall

What will we do there?
why, turn and come back
hitch a ride on a peacock
or a high-stepping yak

A festive zoological travelogue. I've known moose, well, not in the biblical sense, but they are fast. The fat goose doesn't stand a chance. My neighbor has four of them acting, quite successfully as gate sentries. Still I prefer chicken for dinner. Which reminds me, why did the chicken cross the road? To hitch a ride back on a peacock. You know those chickens, always looking for a cheap thrill. Patrick
