House Of Carrots

Let's build a house

of carrot sticks

and watch for

the chimney to sprout.

We'll wait for

a cold hungry rabbit

scratch his head

trying to figure it out.

Should he make

this his home

for the winter and promise

to champ not a bite

maybe  nibble around

a few corners or a small hole

to let in more light.

Or should he fill

his flat tummy with

walls and the roof

then sleep in the snow one more night.

Ah, you have invoked compassion for these creatures I considered shooting yesterday after they consumed a bed of spinach and most of the carrots. Now I leave them to it.

A rabbit's dilemma and a lesson for all about how we view our environment. Do we eat it or sleep in it?
