GUILT
a patchwork quilt

pieces put together
forever and ever
never
goes away
it just seems to stay

anyway

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

all the lies
and the good-byes
even the "try's"
and the "why's"
and the "cry's"

what i've done
the songs i sung
the songs i sing
and what they bring

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

all the yesterday's
all the today's
all the gone away's
especially
those that stays
that be

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

memories
of used ta' be's
and "back when's"
when you "see's"
how things "be's"
you remember your sin's
all over agin's

GUILTIE'S
for what you be's
and what you see's
and who you are
knowin' you went too far

just GUILTY
of bein' the "me's"
that i am
GOD d**n

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

pieces of time
put together
when i lost my rhyme
in stormy weather

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

that won't go away
it don't keep you warm
on a cold day
it just lay
it just stay...
rememberin' the harm
you've done
with the risin' & settin' of each sun

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

of all you've done
believe me
it ain't no fun
to be GUILTY

to know
to show
what you've done
to be
GUILTY

GUILT
a patchwork quilt

of you're life
your strife
and what you've done
with the risin' & settin' of each sun

Steve, I found this striking poem by chance and am so glad I took the time to read it. You have used many poetic devices but this is not the only thing that drives your message across. It is delivered because it is truth and you captured it. Well done!

Got my attention... I am made up of one big molecular cell of guilt.. I don't remember ever NOT feeling guilty about many things.. Even things I am not at fault for.. I cannot seem to shake off.. I think some things are branded on you.. I think if I could take one thing away about myself it would be that endless heavy feeling that festering guilt gives.. EVERY SINGLE DAY.

This one went deep for me.

Great write

Always
Erica~

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone

I met Jerome on a busy city street in Baltimore, Maryland, when he was forty-five years old. On that particular day, I was out and about, enjoying a much-needed day off from work. I wanted to purchase a sukiyaki sub. I parked my car in an area of
